PanAm Flight 6

A Harrowing Tale of Ditching in the Pacific

The history of successful ditchings can be written on a  small piece of paper.  We all know the story of the USAirways “Miracle on the Hudson” – callsign ‘Cactus 1549’, but the story of ‘Clipper 6’ was news to me.

I came across the story of the successful ditching of a Boeing 377 Stratocruiser. PanAm Flight 6 was one of the last legs of a round-the-world flight on its way from Honolulu to San Francisco.

October 1956.

Read about it on the Vintage Wings of Canada website.
