(updated with additional article – 10-2-2020) Just ran into these two articles today, both mentioning former Blue Sky member and WW2 pilot extraordinaire – Bob Vaucher. Some of you, no doubt, heard Bob’s presentation at our annual banquet several years back. Bob was to participate in the “Arsenal of Democracy” flight a couple days ago,

Nowadays there are SO many different sources to get weather information. “Windy” has been one of my go-to apps for a couple years. It is free and it offers lots of weather information that cannot be obtained in one spot elsewhere. Some of the information that it provides is not free elsewhere either, for example

Do you have ESP – Extrasensory Perception? I don’t. But some new Cessnas do. I do a little work as a Check Pilot at Infinity Flight Group in Trenton and they just received a brand new C-172 that has this new Garmin safety feature. ESP – “Electronic Stability and Protection” is an “envelope protection”
Every red-blooded pilot knows the name Chesley Sullenberger but do you remember Al Haynes? Captain Haynes worked for United Airlines and deserves credit and admiration equal to Sully’s. In 1989, he landed a DC-10 in Sioux City, Iowa with no flight controls. The hydraulics had all been severed when the #2 engine threw a fan
