Want to land at McGuire AFB? Well, you can for one morning only, June 4, 2017 with prior permission. Specifically, McGuire is coordinating a fly-in event through a group of FAA Safety Team member volunteers, with whom I’ve been in contact. The details (preliminary) are:
Arrive by 7:30 a.m. Sunday June 4
Upon landing you will be marshalled to appropriate ramp
VFR only event… If weather is IMC, will likely be rescheduled
$10 per person to cover doughnuts and coffee upon arrival and pizza and soft drinks at lunch
Tour details TBD but will almost certainly include a tour of the Radar Approach Control facility (RAPCON) and a tower tour.
Will also likely include static tours of a KC-10 and C-17
Pilot must be US citizen
Pilot must hold a private pilot certificate at a minimum (student pilots prohibited)
Pilot must have a minimum of 100 hours total time.
Guests allowed but there is an age restriction TBD
Pilot name / guest name(s) and tail number must be provided in advance for pre-approval. If you’re not on the list you won’t get in.
No more than 8 planes and 16 people are allowed (or any combination that keeps under these two caps)
– Other airports are involved and I believe there may be 6 definites and 2 planes already, so that leaves 10 people openings for now…
I’ll post more details as they are shared with me from McGuire’s coordinators… But let me know ASAP if you wanna go. I’m definitely planning to attend and am happy to fly in any of our airplanes with folks.

PS, the McGuire coordinators tell me we likely need to have a list in to them by end of April…
